History
Rieffel’s Grocery Store was established with some furnishings sourced from John Kramling’s Meat Market, originally located at 1398 Draper Street (SW corner of Draper & Marion Streets). Many additional artifacts were donated by the Rieffel family from their own business. The Rieffel’s Grocery Store was initially located at 1380 Draper Street, where Kenneth and Evalena Rieffel operated as grocery merchants for many years. Later, they relocated their store to 1415 Marion Street.
1989 Rieffel’s Grocery Store was built on the park grounds.
Stepping back into a 1940's grocery and meat market store, you are greeted by the imaginary warm, inviting aroma of fresh produce and butchered meats. Shelves are lined with an array of canned goods, glass jars of pickles and preserves, and paper-wrapped packages of staple foods. A long, gleaming glass counter showcases a selection of cuts, from roasts to chops, expertly prepared by the friendly, white-aproned butcher behind the counter. The store buzzes with the soft hum of a vintage refrigerator and the chatter of neighbors catching up as they shop, embodying the heart and soul of the community.
