2. Rieffel Mercantile Store

Imagine stepping back in time to the year 1913 and visiting the historical Clay Elementary three-room schoolhouse. As you enter, you're greeted by the charming sight of a quaint building with a sturdy wooden exterior. The schoolhouse stands proudly, a symbol of a different era of education.

Transport yourself to the year 1939 and step inside the charming Rieffels Grocery Store, a General Merchandise Mercantile that was an integral part of the community in Kingsburg, California from 1939 to 1969. This historical store, adorned with a sign proudly displaying its name, exudes a sense of familiarity and comfort from the moment you enter.

3. Olson Ball House

4. Wagons & Yokuts

Imagine stepping into the past as you tour the Olson Ball House, a charming home that holds a special place in history. Originally built in 1908 by Peter Olson, a skilled carpenter, the house was a hub of family life at 1400 Earl Street in Kingsburg.
As you walk through the doors of this time-traveled dwelling, you'll find yourself surrounded by the unique charm of the Folk Victorian architectural style that was all the rage from the 1880s to 1910. The house reflects an era of intricate craftsmanship and distinctive design.

The Wagons and Yokut area at Kingsburg Historical Park offers students a glimpse into the transportation methods and indigenous cultures of the past. The Wagon exhibit showcases the types of vehicles used by early settlers, while the Yokut area provides insight into the life and traditions of the Yokut people, the original inhabitants of the region. This area enriches the field trip experience by connecting students to the cultural and historical significance of the Central Valley.

5. Barn Artifacts

6. Medical Building with Herb Activity

Your challenge is to explore the barn and examine the various farm artifacts displayed. Each artifact has a matching card with a description or name. Can you figure out which card belongs to each artifact? It's a fun, hands-on puzzle that will help you learn about farming history in an interactive and engaging way!

Step back in time at our historical park's medical building, where you'll explore the world of early healthcare. Discover the tools and practices of Dr. Larson and Dr. Kolander, Kingsburg's devoted doctor and dentist. Visit Dr. Satterberg's Model Drug Store, filled with vintage pharmacy items, and learn about the art of medicine-making. Engage in hands-on activities by crafting a poultice using medicinal herbs, connecting Kingsburg's orchard heritage and the vital role of bees. This immersive experience offers a unique glimpse into the past and its enduring influence on our community.

7. Transportation Lesson,
Exhibits and Activities

Welcome, young explorers, to an exciting journey through history at Kingsburg Historical Park, perfect for curious minds in Kindergarten and 1st grade! Get ready to travel back in time and discover the world of transportation from the past.

We'll begin by learning new words like "Long Ago" and "Today," helping us compare the past with the present. Through fun activities, you'll match pictures from different times, piecing together a puzzle of history!

Next, experience the thrill of stepping into 1800s buggies and taking a ride around the park, just like children did long ago. You'll also explore antique buggies and cars, comparing them to today's vehicles and imagining how people stayed safe back then.

Get ready to learn, explore, and have a blast as we dive into the world of past transportation. Let's uncover the secrets of history and enjoy a "wheely" fun adventure! Off we go!

8. Fire Station Lesson
Exhibits and Activities

Welcome, young adventurers, to an exciting journey in front of the Historical Park Fire Station! Get ready to step into the brave world of firefighting and discover the important tools and goals of our everyday heroes.

At the Fire Station, you'll see shiny helmets, special turnout gear, a big fire truck, and an ambulance—all the tools firefighters use to keep us safe. We'll learn about hydrants, alarms, nozzles, and pumps—special words that help firefighters do their job.

But the most important part? Firefighters' number one goal is to keep people safe by rescuing those in need and putting out fires.

Now, get ready for some hands-on fun! Put on your own turnout gear and helmet, just like real firefighters. You'll grab a fire hose and work together to spray water at a large building image on fire, experiencing the thrill of saving the day.

Afterwards, test your problem-solving skills with a puzzle maze, guiding a fire truck to a house in need, avoiding obstacles along the way.
